摘要: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the hypothesis that nasopharyngeal anatomy has influence in risk recurrent acute otitis media (AOM) attacks. We analysed occurrence 238 healthy schoolchildren who were X-rayed for orthodontic purposes. Six measurements reflecting size and shape bony nasopharynx recorded from lateral cephalograms. means almost all dimensions measured smaller children with two or more attacks AOM their history than those no attack only one attack. Logistic multivariate modelling showed distance posterior nasal spine sella-basion line be a significant factor girls (difference 1.0 mm; 95 per cent confidence interval 0.1-2.0 p = 0.04) (roundness) boys 1.9 0.1-4.0 0.01). Measuring may help identify media, at whom prophylactic therapies should targeted.
