摘要: Sepsis-related organ dysfunction remains a major cause of death in the intensive care unit (ICU). So far, different adjunct therapies including antioxidant micronutrients have been developed to improve survival septic patients.According current evidence, selenium therapy should be considered as cornerstone strategy and not only an supplementation ICU patients. The selenocompounds selenious acid (H2SeO3) sodium selenite (Na2SeO3) provided pentahydrate (5H2O-Na2SeO3) drugs with oxidant cytotoxic effects when loading dose is administered intravenous bolus. Teratogenic carcinogenic risks also taken into consideration. Animal studies are still required define Na2SeO3 mechanisms action toxicity. A better understanding its pharmacokinetic profile, duration therapy, long-term toxicity data required. Additionally, effect sepsis assessed large, well-designed phase III clinical trials. Our purpose review adult patients, investigating whether related simple or pharmacological intervention.
