摘要: Background: The assessment of dietary adequacy copper is constrained by the absence recognized status biomarkers. Objectives: objectives were to systematically review usefulness biomarkers and identify those that reflected changes in over >4 wk. Design: methods included a structured search on Ovid MEDLINE, EMBASE (Ovid), Cochrane databases October 2007, followed use formal inclusion/exclusion criteria, data extraction, validity assessment, meta-analysis. Results: A total 16 studies (288 participants) review, with possible All small at high risk bias. Data for serum suggested its value as biomarker, reflecting both depleted replete individuals, although these smaller latter. Total ceruloplasmin protein related but reflects highly individuals only. Erythrocyte superoxide dismutase urinary deoxypyridinoline are not useful biomarkers, there insufficient draw firm conclusions about plasma, erythrocyte, platelet copper; leukocyte dismutase; platelet, plasma glutathione peroxidase; cytochrome-c oxidase; glutathione; diamine pyridinoline. paucity prevented detailed subgroup analysis. Conclusions: Despite limited data, appears be biomarker population level. Further large low bias needed explore effectiveness other relation between responsiveness, dose, period supplementation.
