摘要: We endeavor to show that the metabolism of nonbeating heart can vary over an extreme range: from values approximating those measured in beating only a small fraction normal--perhaps mimicking situation nonflow arrest during cardiac bypass surgery. discuss some technical issues make it difficult establish magnitude basal vivo. consider likely contributors its and point out biochemical reasons for sizable heart's ATP usage remain unresolved. many physiological factors alter metabolic rate, stressing importance substrate supply. protective effect hypothermia may be less than is commonly assumed literature suggest hypoxia ischemia able regulate thus making important contribution phenomenon hibernation.
