摘要: Atherosclerosis is an age-related disorder associated with long-term exposure to cardiovascular risk factors. The asymptomatic progression of atherosclerotic plaques leads major diseases (CVD), including acute myocardial infarctions or cerebral ischemic strokes in some cases. Senescence, a biological process progressive structural and functional deterioration cells, tissues organs, intricately linked diseases. Cell senescence involves coordinated modifications cellular compartments has been demonstrated contribute different stages atheroma development. Senescence-based therapeutic strategies are currently being pursued treat prevent CVD humans the near-future. In addition, distinct experimental settings allowed researchers unravel potential approaches regulate anti-apoptotic pathways, facilitate excessive senescent cell clearance eventually reverse atherogenesis improve function. However, deeper knowledge required fully understand senescence, clarify intertwining, allowing establish more effective treatments reduce disorders’ burden. Here, we present objective review key senescence-related alterations intracellular organelles analyze role relevant types for atherogenesis. this context, provide updated analysis approaches, clinically experiments using senolytic drugs counteract atherosclerosis.
