The Normal and Abnormal Distribution of the Adrenomedullary Imaging Agent m-[I-131]Iodobenzylguanidine (I-131 MIBG) in Man: Evaluation by Scintigraphy

摘要: The scintigraphic distribution of m-[131I]iodobenzylguanidine (I-131 MIBG), an adrenal medullary imaging agent, was studied to determine the patterns uptake this agent in man. normal I-131 MIBG includes clear portrayal salivary glands, liver, spleen, and urinary bladder. heart, middle lower lung zones, colon were less frequently or clearly seen. upper zones kidneys seldom visualized. thyroid appeared only cases inadequate thyroidal blockade. "normal" glands seen faintly imaged 2% at 24 hr after injection 16% 48 hr, patients shown not have pheochromocytomas, whereas intra-adrenal, extraadrenal, malignant pheochromocytomas usually as intense focal areas through 72 hr.
