摘要: Background: Due to the difficulties in definite diagnosis, data on brain imaging pediatric patients with central nervous system (CNS)-invasive mold infection (IMD) are scarce. Our aim was describe abnormalities seen immunocompromised children CNS-IMD, and analyze retrospectively whether specific findings sequences have a prognostic value. Methods: In retrospective study of 19 proven or probable magnetic resonance (MRI)-findings were described analyzed. The results correlated outcome, namely death, severe sequelae, no neurological sequelae. Results: 11 8 adolescents (11/8 proven/probable CNS-IMD) included. Seven died 12/19 survived (63%): seven without major sequelae five Multifocal ring enhancement diffusion restriction most common MRI changes. Diffusion mostly at core lesion. No patient disease limited one lobe died. Perivascular microbleeding susceptibility weighted (SWI) and/or gradient-echo/T2* images, as well infarction, associated poor prognosis. Conclusions: presence infarction related outcome. As early seems be prognosis, we suggest including SWI routine diagnostic evaluation suspected CNS-IMD.
