摘要: Invasive mold disease (IMD) of the central nervous system (CNS) is a severe infectious complication in immunocompromised patients, but early microbiological diagnosis difficult. As data on value biomarkers CNS are scarce, particular children, we retrospectively analyzed performance galactomannan (GM) and PCR assays samples 15 children with proven probable IMD 32 without fungal infection. Galactomannan cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was assessed nine pediatric patients positive five them. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) performed eight detected nucleic acids from molds six patients. were only microbiologic parameter three two respectively. In four specified pathogen microscopy. results remained negative CSF all evidence for IMD. Our suggest that GM specimens valuable additional tools diagnosing should be included work up suspected CNS.
