摘要: Objective: To compare the nasal continuous positive air- way pressure and nasopharyngeal ventilation. Methods: Randomized clinical trial that included all infants admitted at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of INPer, who had respiratory distress required ventilatory support. In total were 28 neonates, divided into two groups, fi rst with 12 patients ventilation, second 16 neonates in airway pressure. Inclusion criteria: Infants automatism sup- port. Exclusion Nasal pathology, major congenital malformations, neuromuscular disorder, air leak syndrome, previous abdominal surgery or intestinal disease. Study variables: gestational age, weight, days life, underlying disease, prior support method application, indications, complications, rate success. We used descriptive statistics for comparison groups χ 2 Mann-Whitney U. Results: The group ventilation nine preterm hypotrophic neonates; six neonates. At moment admission to study phase I predominant indication was apnea, group. Nasopharyngeal failed ve (41.6%) three (18.7%) group, without statistical difference.
