Comments on the Antarctic bottom water problem and high-latitude thermohaline sinking

摘要: It is pointed out that (1) the formation of bottom water and (2) net sinking mass in high latitudes as part global scale vertical thermal circulation ocean are essentially distinct processes not, often tacitly assumed, one same thing, even though both at least partly driven by intense cooling latitudes. further very little actually known either theoretically or observationally about location magnitude compensates for upwelling some authors have suggested occurs main thermocline. Technical errors several previous contributions to antarctic problem discussed.
