摘要: Abstract Background Promoter hypermethylation and microsatellite instability are frequent in tumours of the upper urinary tract (UTT) infrequent bladder tumours. FGFR3 mutations common findings associated with a good prognosis. Objective To investigate occurrence UTT determine prognostic effect these genetic changes. Design, setting, participants Tissue from initial tumour was obtained 280 patients (117 163 UTT). Patients were selected pathologic archives to represent disease spectrum UCC throughout tract. Following excision, underwent surveillance for median 56 mo (range 1–216 mo) or until death. Measurements mutation analysis successfully performed on 252 primary using SNaPshot method. Two-tailed statistical analyses done χ 2 , Fisher exact tests, log rank tests. Cox proportional hazard ratios estimated obtain risks recurrence, progression, death, find independent factors multivariate model. Results limitations occurred same frequency Mutations low-stage milder course bladder, ureter, renal pelvis Strikingly, our data suggest that indicate better survival invasive Conclusions status might be used select who have lower risk
