摘要: Abstract Neutron guide tubes are essential features of many neutron beam instruments. Even though detailed analysis practical systems including curvature and reflectivity losses may require numerical calculation, analytical methods such as the present one useful for understanding idealized assessing accuracy methods. We use a technique which is an adaptation used in particle transport accelerators, describing trajectories transverse (i.e. position angle) phase space neutrons. Similar well known optics have been to calculate transmissions choppers guides, rest upon representations either two momentum or spatial dimensions. derive expressions gain (ratio total current through without internal reflections) parallel-sided one-dimensional tubes, explicitly effects remote finite source. identify several distinct cases. For realistic situation two-dimensional rectangular cross section, product gains computed each dimension.
