摘要: A grounded theory method was used to study nurses' clinical decision making. Field notes, in-depth interviews, and documents were analyzed. The beginning process model contained the core concept, knowing patient, a purposeful action whereby nurse uses understanding of patient's experiences, behaviors, feelings, and/or perceptions select individualized interventions. Familiarity intimacy properties process; patient-nurse interaction context. Three conditions included time, nurse's experience, other input. Four strategies facilitated process: empathizing, matching pattern, developing bigger picture, balancing preferences with difficulties. Different used, as time familiarity patient varied.
