摘要: Background VTE is a common complication of hospitalization and associated with significant morbidity mortality. The use appropriate thromboprophylaxis can significantly reduce the risk but remains underutilized. In England, comprehensive approach to prevention was launched in 2010. This study aimed evaluate impact implementation national program single center. Methods A prospective quality improvement established at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust multidisciplinary thrombosis team mandatory documented assessment updated guidance. Root cause analysis hospital-associated (HAT) implemented identify system failures, enable outcome measurement, facilitate learning improve practice. key outcomes were incidence HAT proportion events preventable thromboprophylaxis. Results Documented improved from 90% first 9 months. Four hundred twenty-five episodes identified over 2 years. reduction observed following sustained achievement (risk ratio, 0.88; 95% CI, 0.74-0.98; P = .014). attributable inadequate fell 37.5% 22.4% ( .005). Conclusions Mandatory thereby patient safety.
