摘要: A study to determine the contribution of Giardia cysts and Cryptosporidium oocysts from cattle farms was carried out at Langat Basin. This investigated farms, located near Sungai Semenyih, towards river contamination with these oocysts. The findings showed that 24 samples water taken 4.2% positive for a concentration 1.3 cysts/L 20.8% were range 0.7 - 2.7 oocysts/L. At Langat, 43 taken, 23.3% 1.5 9 whereas 11.6% 2.5 240 Isolation in bovine faecal materials revealed 14.6% which had 75 1.3x104 cysts/g 25% 50 3.9x105 oocysts/g. From wastewater, 98% 6.7% cysts. concentrations between 20 3.1x103 oocysts/mL 4 cysts/mL Giardia. Given prevalence are high amongst (oo)cysts samples, it could be deduced there is very possibility contaminating Viability surrounding soil pond within farm viability decreased time. It estimated will take 52 days all both environment non-viable. With rate approximately 2 months setup, contaminated has chance acting as an agent transmission. As also inhabited by owners their families, this problem may pose threat humans (e.g. children) especially if they dependent on source daily activities.
