摘要: Interiority, the inner being, consciousness, is core theme of this essay. My main concern application rather marginal approaches to address future potentials for sustainable urban development variously referred as holistic, integral, transdisciplinary or meta-theoretical. What characterizes them an attempt acknowledge many different types knowledge, including what typically called “Eastern” and “Western” science, culture, arts also perennial wisdom traditions. In spite apparent neglect, these have been noticeably linked in past futures studies by several scholars. A key argument that much we recognize outer built environment cities major challenges our times like ecological crisis, need integrate more subtle interior dimensions human existence adequately. On one hand, research inquires about social pioneers change agents, intentional communities such transnational initiatives transition town movement, which are discussed within context their global relevance developed developing countries illustrated case India. While on other it a quest develop conceptual-theoretical approach may be integral transformative planning.
