摘要: Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is an important cause of mortality and morbidity amongst adults in the Asia-Pacific region. Literature published between 1990 May 2010 on clinical economic burden CAP this region was reviewed. a significant health with impact Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cardiovascular diabetes mellitus advanced age were risk factors for CAP. Aetiological agents included Streptococcus pneumoniae, Klebsiella Gram-negative bacteria, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Burkholderia pseudomallei, Staphylococcus aureus atypical pathogens (Mycoplasma Chlamydophila pneumoniae Legionella spp.), differences prevalence these within Antibiotic resistance but not linked to excess mortality. remained susceptible newer antimicrobial agents. Rational antibiotic use essential preventing resistance, increased surveillance required identify future trends incidence aetiology drive treatment prevention strategies.
