摘要: Objective The investigation was conducted to better characterize the clinical, radiographic, and histopathologic features of cemental tears from a review 21 cases. Study Design This retrospective consecutive cases collected patient records investigators. Results Twenty-one were identified during an 8-year period. Maxillary incisors most often affected (47.6%). All lesions presented with pain. They occurred as radiolucencies along root vital or endodontically treated tooth classified D-shaped (38.1%), thin-vertical-line (23.8%), thick-vertical-line (14.3%), J-shaped (19.0%), periapical (4.8%). showed focal destruction lamina dura, 66.7% exhibiting extension into medullary bone. Histopathologic diagnoses included intramedullary fibrous scar (28.6%) chronic fibrosing osteomyelitis (71.4%), all associated embedded fragments. Five teeth also examined: beneath remaining cementum. Four successfully curettage without extraction; endodontic therapy performed, probably mistakenly, in 8 Conclusions Cemental produced symptomatic, localized inflammation characterized usually by vertical radiolucency adjacent root. These may not be rare previously thought extraction best treatment.
