摘要: We introduce experimental research design to the study of policy diffusion in order better understand role political ideology policymakers’ willingness learn from one another’s experiences. Our two experiments, embedded national surveys U.S. municipal officials, expose local policymakers vignettes describing zoning and home foreclosure policies other cities, offer an opportunity more. find that: (1) who are ideologically predisposed against described relatively unwilling others, but (2) such ideological biases can be overcome with emphasis on policy’s success or its adoption by co-partisans communities. also find, however, a similar partisan-based bias among traditional supporters. Thus partisanship does not solely broaden patterns learning diffusion, undermine precisely where it is most likely occur absent any partisan cue. finish discussion vast array new opportunities that approach offers scholars diffusion.
