摘要: In most mammals the growth hormone (GH) locus comprises a single gene expressed primarily in anterior pituitary gland. However, higher primates multiple duplications of GH gave rise to complex containing several genes. man this five genes, including GH-N (expressed pituitary) and four genes placenta, but other species number organization these vary. The situation chimpanzee has been unclear, with suggestions up seven GH-like We have re-examined deduced complete sequence. includes apparently organized fashion similar that human, two encoding proteins, three chorionic somatomammotropins/placental lactogens (CSHs/PLs). There are notable differences between human loci regard regulation, conversion events. particular, one (hCSH-L) changed substantially since chimpanzee/human split, potentially becoming pseudogene, while corresponding (CSH-A1) conserved, giving product almost identical adjacent CSH-A2. Chimpanzee appears produce CSHs, differing biological properties, whereas produces CSH. pattern quite different from chimpanzee. region around is remarkably polymorphic, unlike human. results shed new light on evolution primates.
