Processing Preference Queries in Standard Database Systems

摘要: Locating the “right” piece of information among a wide range available alternatives is not an easy task, as everyone has experienced at least once during his/her lifetime. In this paper we look some recent issues arising when database query extended so to include user preferences, which ultimately determine whether one alternative reputed by better than another one. particular, focus on case qualitative preference queries, that strictly well-known skyline and describe how can take advantage sorting machinery standard engines speed-up evaluation both in centralized distributed scenarios.
