摘要: A major difficulty in doing calculations for industrial problems is that usually many physical processes occur simultaneously. However a detailed analysis frequently reveals one process dominant and that, as consequence, approximate mathematical expressions can be derived are adequate the engineer. Two examples given. Firstly, CO2-N2-He gas lasers two-term expansion of electron distribution function spherical harmonics yields attachment ionization coefficients from Boltzmann transport equation. Equating at equilibrium enables predictions operating voltage laser to made. Secondly, solutions radiative transfer equation make it possible predict diameters arcs circuit breakers simple way.
