摘要: Abstract. We present the validation of ozone profiles from a number Solar Backscatter Ultraviolet (SBUV and SBUV/2) instruments that were recently reprocessed using an updated (version 8.6) algorithm. The SBUV data record spans 41 yr period 1970 to 2011 with 5 gap in 1970s. ultimate goal is create consistent, well-calibrated set can be used for climate studies trend analyses. have been intensively validated against satellite profile measurements Microwave Limb Sounders (MLS) (on board UARS Aura satellites) Stratospheric Aerosol Gas Experiment (SAGE II) ground-based observations microwave spectrometers, lidars, Umkehr balloon-borne ozonesondes. In stratosphere between 25 1 hPa mean biases standard deviations are mostly within 5% monthly zonal profiles. Above below this layer vertical resolution algorithm decreases. combine several layers troposphere/lower account lower resolution. bias tropospheric/lower stratospheric combined relative similarly integrated columns MLS, ozonesonde varies 5%. also estimate drift their potential effect on long-term stability record. Data collectively cover 1980s 2000s very stable, drifts less than 0.5% per year. features individual SBUV(/2) discussed recommendations creating merged provided.
