摘要: Background: Oral Submucous fibrosis (OSMF) is a common potentially malignant disease, which characterized by generalized of the oral soft tissues. It due to disproportion in collagen deposition and degradation. The excess results juxta epithelial fibro elastic changes atrophy. Neoplastic epithelium usually precede connective tissue. purpose study was evaluate birefringence using picrosirius stain compare with haematoxylin eosin stained section. Materials & Methods: conducted on 50 subjects, included 45 patients diagnosed different functional histopathological grades OSMF 5 control group. Picrosirius red used analyze both histopathologically qualitatively polarizing microscopy. Chi-square test at p value <0.05 significance tabulated. Results: Collagen fibers showed mixed shift colour from yellow red-orange lamina propria, around muscle blood vessels, correlating conventional H&E stain. Conclusion: present show significant change between various components This colors arrangement might give an assumption impending neoplastic OSMF.
