摘要: BACKGROUND: Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is the third most frequently diagnosed endocrine disorder worldwide. The aim of our study was to evaluate quantitative ultrasound (QUS) parameters hand in postmenopausal women with PHPT preoperatively, so that we may develop an effective method compare benefits patients after a successful parathyroidectomy. We hypothesized this QUS evaluation have extra advantage assessment cortical bone quality than standard density measurements dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). METHODS: Sixteen who had been primary and 16 age-matched post-menopausal were enrolled study. Bone mineral (BMD) performed by (DXA) at lumbar spine (L1–L4) proximal femur (neck total). Ultrasound 1/3 distal radius (RAD) phalanges finger (PLX) on non-dominant hand. RESULTS: All (T-scores for RAD PLX, ORI™) significantly lower group control (p < 0.05). However, there no significant difference between when evaluated DXA. CONCLUSIONS: This indicates could be alternative diagnostic approach evaluating mass since it reflects early loss these better DXA measurement.
