摘要: To assess the relationship between respiratory mechanics and muscle strength control of ventilation in patients with neuromuscular disease (NMD), we compared PImax PEmax at RV, FRC TLC, total elastance (Ers) VT, TI, TT, VE, VT/TI, TI/TT, P.01, P.01/(VT/TI) effective impedance 21 NMD healthy (C) subjects, seated position breathing room air. Ers was 79 percent higher than C subjects. While VT were approximately half corresponding values, P.01 66 greater subjects (both p less 0.001). ranged from 37 to 52 respectively. Despite significant weakness, only 7 16 demonstrated a PaCo2 45 mm Hg. Ventilatory output modulated by as indicated increased P.01. In spite central drive is not decreased, fact, often increased. VE an accurate measure because abnormal intrinsic effects conscious responses or reflexes.
