摘要: The assembly of individual protein subunits into large-scale structures is important in many biological contexts. Proteins may assemble geometrical cages or extended lattices that are characterized by a high degree symmetry; examples include viral capsids and bacterial S-layers. precisely defined higher order structure exhibited these assemblies has inspired efforts to design such de novo applying the principles symmetry evident natural assemblies. Here we discuss progress towards this goal also have been engineered repurpose them diverse range applications materials science nano-medicine.
