摘要: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term wear performance alumina matrix composite (AMC) heads against inserts and (Al) with use a hip-joint simulator incorporating severe swing phase joint microseparation. AMC on Al produced an average rate 0.61 mm3/million cycles over 5-million-cycle test duration. 0.16 Both significantly lower than previously tested HIPed alumina, where 1.84 reported 5 million cycles. mechanisms debris were similar those observed in previous retrieval studies stripe caused by intragranular fracture consisting predominantly uniform 10–20-nm-sized particles few irregular up 3 μm size. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
