Characteristics of selectors of nicotine replacement therapy.

摘要: Objective: To assess differences in demographic and smoking characteristics between smokers who have not used nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). Design: Mail survey of US from a national research panel. Participants: Smokers 18 years over returned on (n  =  9630). The sample was weighted to match the smoker population age sex. Main outcome measures: Compared had/had NRT quit attempt (ever use or counter (OTC) use) on: characteristics, dependence, history craving withdrawal, expected difficulty quitting, self reported related medical illness psychopathology. Results: users (both ever-users OTC users) were more likely be older, male, better educated. They also heavier smokers, had experienced withdrawal upon scored higher measures dependence. These evident among light remained even when rate time first cigarette controlled. Conclusion: elect differ non-NRT ways that predispose them failure cessation. Controlling for does eliminate these differences, smokers. must considered comparing effectiveness samples select their treatment are bias such comparisons.
