摘要: Monitoring land-cover changes on sites of conservation importance allows environmental problems to be detected, solutions developed and the effectiveness actions assessed. However, remoteness many or a lack resources means these data are frequently not available. Remote sensing may provide solution, but large-scale mapping change detection appropriate, necessitating site-level assessments. These need easy undertake, rapid cheap. We present an example Web-based solution based free open-source software standards (including PostGIS, OpenLayers, Web Map Services, Feature Services GeoServer) support assessments (and validation global maps). Authorised users provided with assess visually optionally uncertainty information at various levels: from general rating their confidence in assessment quantification proportions types within reference area. Versions this tool have been for TREES-3 initiative (Simonetti, Beuchle Eva, 2011). This monitors tropical through ground-truthing latitude / longitude degree confluence points, monitoring around Important Bird Areas (IBAs) by Birdlife International Royal Society Protection Birds (RSPB). In paper we results second applications. also further details potential use recognised importance, combination NDVI other time series eStation (a system receiving, processing disseminating data). show how can used increase usability earth observation local stakeholders experts, assist evaluating impact protection regimes change.
