摘要: Debris particles extracted from a small sampling region on the leading edge of Long Duration Exposure Facility (LDEF) spacecraft have been examined by analytical transmission electron microscopy and elemental frequency observed energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry compared with upper atmosphere (Earth) particle average compositions interplanetary dust particles. A much broader distribution was for exposed surface debris milieu. Numerous metal microfragment analyses, particularly aluminium stainless steel, were scanning microscope observations impact crater features, corresponding spectra selected LDEF tray clamps steel bolts. The melt features these craters ejecta shown to be consistent microcrystalline fragments in case aluminium, suggest an ever changing milieu surfaces space craft system materials.
