摘要: Ferroelectric cathodes have been explored as an alternative electron source for microwave tubes. Past experiments demonstrated operation at frequencies of 2–10 GHz. Since the ferroelectric cathode is based on surface plasma, relatively high energy spread limits tube frequency. Hence, possibility to obtain higher remained questionable. In this experimental work a gyrotron oscillator was designed with frequency increased toward that millimeter waves. A cylindrical cutoff ∼22 GHz integrated gun. Pulses ∼0.5 μs duration 23 GHz were obtained.
