Using an experimental design field trials, we are testing shock collars, fladry, livestock guarding dogs determine if they effective reducing wolf use of areas Wisconsin Michigan. During 2003-2004, equipped 5 with collars found a 14-day period resulted decline baited sites by 50% compared control increased visitation 18%. 2005, all pack members shock-collared packs (n = 5) avoided for over 60 days after being exposed 40-day period. 2004-2005, fladry offered farms at least 90 protection from wolves. 2006-2008, conducting trials on Michigan using protocol additional Wisconsin. Our preliminary data suggest may reduce within their territories. Results this research will provide important guidelines implementing potential non-lethal management measures have recolonized or likely recolonize near future and/or where reintroduced.
