ADOLESCENTS’ DECISION-MAKING AND ATTITUDES TOWARDS ABORTION IN NORTH-EAST BRAZIL

摘要: Three groups of adolescents are compared with regard to their own considerations abortion and when they believe is justified. One group terminated pregnancies (n=95), a second became pregnant carried term but considered (n=68), the third also did not consider (n=204). The study was out between 1995 1998 in Fortaleza, Brazil. Adolescents were interviewed at time hospitalization or first prenatal visit again 6 weeks 1 year post-abortion postpartum. Friends family recommended least half teenagers each group. Teenagers who aborted more accepting than those abort, while found practice justified abortion. less later, accepting. A better understanding adolescent attitudes towards decision-making process should help adults professionals meet needs for support reduction number unintended future.
