摘要: We demonstrate that the comparison of Tully-Fisher relations (TFRs) derived from global H I line widths to TFRs circular velocity profiles dynamical models (or stellar kinematic observations corrected for asymmetric drift) is vulnerable systematic and uncertain biases introduced by different measures rotation used. therefore argue constrain relative locations spiral S0 galaxies, same tracer measure must be used both samples. Using detailed near-infrared imaging velocities axisymmetric Jeans 14 nearby edge-on Sa‐Sb spirals S0s drawn a range environments, we find lie on TFR with slope as spirals, but are average 0:53 0:15 mag fainter at KS-band given rotational velocity. This significantly smaller offset than measured in earlier studies TFR, which attribute our elimination bias associated using use type reference. Since measurement avoids biases, it should preferred previous estimates. A population star formation truncated would take 1 Gyr fade 0.53 KS-band. If products simple truncation then this finding difficult reconcile observed evolution spiral/S0 fraction redshift. Recent could explain lack fading S0s, persists function mass. show explained difference between total mass distributions sense need or more concentrated spirals.
