摘要: Real time nanodeformation processes of a single crystal alumina (1ī02) were studied by in situ Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Tungsten tips 50 and 450 nm diameters used to indent the sample. Crack development was observed analyzed real time. TEM analysis damage area beneath nanoindentation sites reveals complex zones cracks varying local strains. Cracks with variable sizes some have preferred orientations along different planes, for example {ī012}. Bend contours, due stress, develop prior crack during loading cycle indenter. follow bend contours initial speed 17 nm/s. Median form process indentation propagate parallel direction.
