摘要: The concentrations of lead in wing bones Victorian waterfowl were determined from samples collected mainly during the opening weekend 1990 duck-hunting season. Of about 7000 wings collected, 1134 (of 12 species and wetland collection sites throughout State) subsampled for analysis. Although bone low some (e.g. chestnut grey teal, freckled duck), higher found small diving ducks Pacific black duck. Tissues duck one major hunting area indicated exposure to lead. 194 gizzards inspected, 28 (14.4%) contained ingested eroded shotgun pellets. Lead livers also elevated, with 4.6% having more than 2.0mg kg-1. Other studies have that may die after ingestion pellets; since such pellets present a similar threat local populations, use alternative non-toxic ammunition should be encouraged.
