摘要: The identity of cell surface receptor molecules on Plasmodium falciparum-infected erythrocytes is great interest since the functional sites involved in attachment to endothelial cells may be structurally conserved wild isolates. Such represent suitable antigenic targets for a vaccine-induced immune response that would block or reverse infected sequestration vivo. Identification also lead novel methods treatment acute cerebral malaria. We review likely roles, either direct indirect, participation knob protrusions, malarial proteins expressed at surface, and modified host membrane specific properties acquired by erythrocytes.
