摘要: Due to work in model systems (e.g., flies and mice), the molecular mechanisms of embryogenesis are known exquisite detail. However, these organisms incapable asexual reproduction possess limited regenerative abilities. Thus, alternate developmental trajectories their relation embryonic remain understudied. Because present a diverse group animal phyla spanning metazoan phylogeny, including cnidarians, annelids, echinoderms, they likely have played major role evolution. The starlet sea anemone Nematostella vectensis, an emerging system, undergoes larval development, fission, complete bi-directional regeneration field laboratory. In order investigate what extent patterning utilized during trajectories, we examined expression regulatory genes fission. When compared previously reported patterns, found that all displayed some level consistent with embryogenesis. five seven investigated also striking differences gene between one or more trajectory. These results demonstrate utilize distinct upstream such as fox, otx, Hox-like.
