Life cycle design framework and demonstration projects. Profiles of at and T and AlliedSignal

摘要: Life cycle design seeks to minimize the environmental burden associated with a product life from raw materials acquisition through manufacturing, use, and end-of-life management. Two demonstration projects industry were conducted test, evaluate, refine framework presented in Cycle Design Guidance Manual (EPA 600/R-92/226)(PB93-164507), predecessor this report. Both AT&T Bell Labs Allied Signal, Filters Spark Plugs, applied development of cleaner products. focused on achieving greater material energy efficiency, improving recyclability, using releasing fewer toxic constituents their business telephone terminal. Signal developed criteria guide improvement future engine oil filters. Major accomplishments difficulties implementing are highlighted for each project.
