摘要: Abstract Background CDP-choline (cytidine-5'-diphosphocholine) improves functional recovery, promotes nerve regeneration, and decreases perineural scarring in rat peripheral injury. The aim of the present study was to investigate mechanism action with regard matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity rat-transected sciatic injury model. Materials methods Male Wistar rats were randomized into Sham, Saline, groups. Rats Sham group received surgery, whereas Saline groups underwent right transection followed by immediate primary saturation injected intraperitoneally 0.9% NaCl (1 mL/kg) (600 μg/kg), respectively. Sciatic samples obtained 1, 3, 7 d after surgery analyzed for levels activities MMP-2 MMP-9, tissue inhibitor metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP-1) TIMP-3, axonal regeneration. Results treatment decreased increasing TIMP-1 TIMP-3 significantly on third seventh day compared group. In addition, administration resulted new axon formation advancement myelination newly formed islets (compartments) regrowth. Conclusions Our data show, first time, that modulates MMP expression TIMPs stimulate These help explain one which provides neuroprotection
