摘要: Clinicians claim that myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) are a primary cause of pain in whiplash injured patients. Pain from MTrPs is often treated by needling, with or without injection. We conducted placebo controlled study to test the feasibility phase III randomised trial investigating efficacy MTrP needling patients associated pain. Forty-one referred for physiotherapy recent injury, were recruited. Patients receive standardised plus either acupuncture sham needle control. A was judged feasible if: i) majority eligible willing participate; ii) had MTrPs; iii) at least 75% provided completed self-assessment data; iv) no serious adverse events reported and v) end treatment attrition rate less than 20%. 70% those participate volunteered do so; all participants clinically identified 100% completion achieved recorded as result intervention; 17%. both relevant. This currently being planned.
