摘要: This paper describes a metaphor that allows people to move around an immersive virtual environment by “walking in place”. Positional data of participants’ head movements are obtained from tracking sensor on head-mounted display during training session, where they alternate between walking place and range other activities. The is fed neural net pattern recogniser learns recognise the person’s behaviour. used reality system allow through simulating kinds kinesthetic actions sensory perceptions involved walking. An experiment was carried out compare this method navigation with familiar alternative involves using hand-held pointing device, such as 3D mouse. suggests may enhance participant’s sense presence, but it not advantageous respect efficiency navigation.
