Cesarean Section on Maternal Request in Tehran 2010-2011: Incidence and Predisposing Factors

摘要: Background and purpose: Autonomy in making decision is one of the most fundamental principles medical ethics. Respect for patient autonomy a moral duty, therefore, many doctors agree to perform unnecessary cesarean. This study was designed determine incidence maternal demands cesarean sections influential factors on among pregnant women Tehran, 2010-2011. Material Methods: cross-sectional carried out attending some hospitals Tehran delivery. There were 850 who delivered their babies through section. Data analyzed using univariate logistic regression SPSS. Results: The prevalence delivery request 11.2%. cause 82.3% fear vaginal childbirth. Pregnant aged < 21 years old 3.2 times more interested having section (OR=3.200, CI 95%=1.15-8.89), those had higher education 18.5 likely deliver (OR=18.5, CI95%=2.45-139.35). Performing found two working compared housewives (OR=2.39, CI95%=1/45-3.93). Moreover, employment status husband (OR=6.037, CI95%=2.33-15.99), private hospital (OR=7.13, CI95%=4.08-12.44), idea team (OR=45.89, CI95%=25.39-82.93) increased probability Conclusion:The findings indicated several that influenced birth request.
