摘要: Pulses are multipurpose crops for providing income, employment and food security in the underprivileged regions, notably FAO-defined low-income food-deficit countries. Owing to their intrinsic ability endure environmental adversities least input/management requirements, these remain central subsistence farming. Given pivotal role rain-fed agriculture, substantial research has been invested boost productivity of pulse crops. To this end, genomic tools technologies have appeared as compelling supplement conventional breeding. However, progress minor including dry beans (Vigna spp.), lupins, lablab, lathyrus vetches remained unsatisfactory, hence often labeled low profile or lesser researched. Nevertheless, recent scientific technological breakthroughs particularly next generation sequencing (NGS) radically transforming scenario genomics molecular breeding NGS techniques allowed de novo assembly whole genomes orphan Moreover, availability a reference genome sequence would promote re-sequencing diverse genotypes unlock allelic diversity at genome-wide scale. In parallel, offered high-resolution genetic maps more precisely, robust framework implement whole-genome strategies crop improvement. As already demonstrated lupin, sequencing-based genotyping representative sample provided access number functionally-relevant markers that could be deployed straight away programs. This article attempts outline made explored crops, examines prospects assisted integrated enhance stabilize yields.
