摘要: Abstract A new Upper Triassic fossiliferous outcrop, the Niemeyer Site, from Santa Maria Supersequence (Parana Basin, Southern Brazil) is reported. The lithology found in this locality consistent with that Candelaria Sequence. high prevalence of traversodontid cynodonts site particularly notable, collected specimens mostly composed isolated bones and fragmentary specimens, but also including well-preserved skulls mandibles. Probainognathian archosauromorphs are present, they rare comparison. There a predominance Voorhies Group III (Group III > Group I > Group II) for so far collected. These data, as well sedimentary data indicate autochthonous assemblage. Some display evidence ichnological activity invertebrate scavengers (bone alteration comprising small tubules, channels boreholes). remarkable aspect presence cynodont closely related to Exaeretodon. Although similar former taxon, taxonomic unit shows unique combination several craniodental features not present other cynodonts. Given no traversodontids recorded uppermost levels Sequence, likely placed lower unit, fauna suggesting Carnian age.
