摘要: ABSTRACTThe traversodontid cynodont Menadon besairiei, previously known from the ‘Isalo II’ group of Madagascar, is reported for first time Triassic southern Brazil. New material referable to M. besairiei was collected in Schoenstatt outcrop (Santa Cruz do Sul municipality), which belongs Santacruzodon Assemblage Zone (Carnian) Santa Maria Supersequence. Their attribution Malagasy taxon based on presence a deep snout; four upper incisors, with procumbent and second three lower, incisors; five postcanines, one ‘peg-like’; six lower two most anterior posterior being reduced; quadrangular form postcanines; pterygoid reaching jugal excluding maxilla suborbital fenestra; mandible tall coronoid process covering last postcanine laterally; posteriorly projected angular process.
