摘要: BACKGROUND Plantago ovata, commonly called psyllium, is known to be a rich source of polyphenolic compounds. The present study was aimed at determining polyphenol content and studying their antioxidant activities in P. ovata during vitro callus culture. An attempt also made enhance using external additives. role PAL gene accumulation studied. RESULTS The indicated the presence significant amounts polyphenols, including flavonoids, callus. A gradual increase flavonoid observed up third passage (63 days) culture, which declined next passage. third-passage showed highest activity. High-performance liquid chromatographic results high gallic acid rutin calli; however, other polyphenols were but lesser extent. Additive supplementation effective enhancing production increasing activity callus. CONCLUSION The research reported culture could applied isolation for various beneficial purposes. It enhancement several an additive-treated © 2015 Society Chemical Industry
