摘要: Glucose is the major energy source during normal adult brain activity. However, it appears that glial-derived lactate preferred as an substrate by neurons following hypoxia-ischemia. We examined factors influencing this switch in energetic bias from glucose to cultured hippocampal neurons, focusing on effects of physiological changes lactate, and adenosine concentrations seen show with typical basal glucose, had no effect uptake. at these metabolites found after hypoxia-ischemia, inhibited Reciprocally, utilization regardless concentrations. Furthermore, we find under hypoglycemic conditions a small, but significant, inhibitory Additionally, increased utilization. Thus, relative adenosine, which are indicative status hippocampus, influence substrates used. These results support idea biased direction rather than accomplished through number regulatory steps.
