摘要: Abstract Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a significant component of the extracellular matrix (ECM), particular interest being shown herein in synovial fluid. The present study aims to investigate degrading effects X-ray radiation on HA at radiotherapy doses. Measurements viscosity and shear stresses solutions have been made different rates using various types viscometer for concentrations range 0.01–1% w/v HA. has subjected doses 6 MV photon ranging from 0 20 Gy, major emphasis below 5 Gy. It found that there dose-dependent relationship between rate, reducing with dose, this related polymer scissions via action radiation-induced free radicals. dependency appears become weaker higher concentrations, possibly due contribution entanglement becoming dominant over mean molecular weight. Present results, concentration 0.01% 1% w/v, show reduced dose 0–4 Gy, latter covering regime fractionated radiotherapy. work also shows agreement previous Raman microspectrometry findings by others, possible bond alterations defined comparison available published data.
